CPR for the Healthcare Professional

This course satisfies both the initial and renewal certification requirements. The BLS for Healthcare

providers teachers the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device,

a gag-mask device, and oxygen), use of AED on non-responsive victims. The AHA requires that

students have access to course textbook.

Medical Office Assistant with Billing & Coding

Prepare now for jobs in the medical office environment.  Course includes insurance billing procedures, ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM,  diagnosis coding, CPT procedure coding, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, keyboarding, 10-key by touch, data entry, MS Word and Excel, mathematics, business writing, telephone procedures and customer service.

Prerequisite:  HS diploma or GED, completion of Introduction to the Computer course or equivalent experience and typing speed of 30 wpm.  Call (916) 686-7717 for next 3-hour orientation and assessment date.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technicians are in demand as one of the fastest growing occupations in healthcare.  They assist the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, refer clients to the pharmacist for counseling, maintain inventory control, purchase supplies, collect payments, coordinate billing and more.  Classroom instruction:  182 hours.  Pharmacy externship:  120 hours.

Phlebotomy for the Medical Professional

This 2-day course provides instruction in the art of drawing blood and is designed for current medical assistants, emergency medical technicians, vocational/registered nurses or medical doctors and others who use, or plan to use, phlebotomy skills within their scope of work.  Participants will become proficient in venipuncture with syringe, vacutainer, butterfly and fingerstick methods built upon a foundation of basic principles of venous anatomy, physiology and sterile technique.
